The MTS Discoverer operate scheduled cruises between Madang/Alotau via the Islands in Milne Bay. The cruise visits many of the outlying islands including D'Entrecastreaux Group - Goodenough, Fergusson, Normanby including Wagifa and Dobu, Kiriwina, Kailuena, Kitava and on occassions Simsim, Giwa, Iwa, Kaiwatto, Egum Atoll. At each stop you will have the opportunity of going ashore, walking into the villages, meeting the people, possibly seeing colourful dances. During May/Jul when the Yams are being harvested, traditional cultural shows abound throughout the entire region.
In addition to the shore excursions, the MTS Discoverer carried limited diving gear to enable underwater exploration which was described by Jacques Costou as being the best in the world. The MTS Discoverer is not a dedicated "dive boat" it offers the best of both world, a choice of both land excursions and/or diving. Intending divers must be able to produce their diving certificates and sign an indemnity against the company, divers should also be experienced.
